Statistical Week Start Day - for non-Monday Start Days.

There is a new drop down on the Service record called Statistical Week Start Day

This new setting makes it possible to use a different start day of a week when Schoolworks calculates Booking Statistics.

Historically, Accommodation had a start day set (usually to a Sunday) in the Custom Settings, but all other Booking Types were set to a Monday start day of the week.

For example sometimes courses might run Sundays to Sundays (e.g. Young Learner Courses) - which meant Schoolworks would calculate a number across multiple calendar weeks in Booking Statistics, whilst technically correct this meant we had to use other reporting tools to count students which will no longer be needed.

The following two cases show cases this new feature:

In the following case, the one week course (Sunday-Saturday) spans two calendar weeks - Week 7 and Week 8 - technically correct but impractical for measuring occupancy.

When the Statistical Week Day is set to ‘Sunday’ then the following is the new calculation:

The Course now spans one calendar week.

Tip: A course service type can be configured to operate on an ‘Arrival/Departure’ basis (e.g. Sunday arrive, Sunday depart) by using the Duration Offset setting on the PriceItem - which is set to -1 will calculate a 8 ‘day’ course as 7

Please note that changing the Statistical Week Start Day will not recalculate existing Booking Statistics - it will only affect new Bookings or changes to existing Bookings. If you wish to recalculate for historical data you need to re-run the Booking Statistics batches.
