Agent Commissions
Schoolworks can automatically create commission ‘credit’ transactions on the Agent creditor account for later payment.
There are two settings to consider for the ability to generate a commission for a Booking (at all) and the ability to automatically generate a commission.
One setting is the commission tickbox on the price record – this if the “master” on/off switch for commissions – if this is unticked, then it is impossible for a user to assign commission to a price – either automatically or by setting a commission manually on the Booking screen. This setting prevents accidental application of a commission.
The 2nd setting is the Default Commisson tickbox on the Priceitem. If this is TICKED (and the price line commission above needs to be ticked too) then the commission will be applied AUTOMATICALLY. If this is unticked, but the price line commission is ticked, then a user can still set a commission value/percent on the booking and it will be applied – but by default it won’t.
Typically
Course priceitems will have both price and default commission tickboxes ticked, as courses always attract commission.
Accommodation priceitems will have both unticked because they never attract commission
Booking fees (e.g. Registration fees) sometimes have the Price Line Commission ticked (so it is possible to generate a commission as a manual override in a Booking) but will have the Price Item Default Commission unticked, so that it is not automatically applied.
Commission Overrides
It is possible to further override commissions by creating override records on the Agent account record.
For example, you may wish to apply different commissions to different services, or at different times.
