CHAP. III.

1 Hee sheweth where wee should seeke Christ. 5 Hee exhorteth to mortification, 10 to put off the olde man, and to put on Christ, 12 exhorting to charitie, humilitie, and other seuerall dueties.

enn ihr dann mit Christus wieder auferstanden seid, sucht jene Dinge, die droben sind, wo Christus zur rechten Hand Gottes sitzt:

¹ If yee then bee risen with Christ, seeke those things which are aboue, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God:

² Richtet eure ||Zuneigung auf Dinge droben, nicht auf Dinge auf der Erde.[||oder: Verstand]

² Set your || affection on things aboue, not on things on the earth.[||Or, minde.]

³ Denn ihr seid tot und euer Leben ist verborgen mit Christus in Gott.

³ For yee are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

⁴ Wenn Christus, der unser Leben ist, erscheinen wird, dann werdet auch ihr mit ihm in Herrlichkeit erscheinen.

⁴ When Christ, who is our life, shall appeare, then shall yee also appeare with him in glorie.

⁵ Tötet deshalb eure Glieder ab, die auf Erden sind: Unzucht, Unreinheit, Ausschweifung, böse Begierde und Habsucht, die Götzendienst ist:

⁵ Mortifie therefore your members which are vpon the earth: fornication, vncleannesse, inordinate affection, euill concupiscence, and couetousnesse, which is idolatrie:

⁶ Denn solcher Dinge wegen kommt der Zorn Gottes auf die Kinder des Ungehorsams,

⁶ For which things sake, the wrath of God commeth on the children of disobedience,

⁷ In welchen ihr auch manchmal wandeltet, als ihr in ihnen lebtet.

⁷ In the which yee also walked sometime, when ye liued in them.

⁸ Aber jetzt legt auch ihr all diese ab, Ärger, Zorn, Bosheit, Lästerung, schmutzige Worte aus eurem Mund.

⁸ But now you also put off all these, anger, wrath, malice, blasphemie, filthy communication out of your mouth.

⁹ Lügt einander nicht an, erkennend, dass ihr den alten Menschen mit seinen Taten abgelegt habt:

⁹ Lie not one to another, seeing that yee haue put off the old man with his deedes:

¹⁰ Und legt den neuen Menschen an, der in Wissen erneuert ist, nach dem Ebenbild von ihm, der ihn erschaffen hat,

¹⁰ And haue put on the new man, which is renued in knowledge, after the image of him that created him,

¹¹ Wo da weder Grieche, noch Jude, Beschneidung oder Unbeschnittenheit, Barbar, Skythe, Leibeigener, noch Freier ist: Sondern Christus ist alles und in allen.

¹¹ Where there is neither Greeke, nor Iew, circumcision, nor vncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond, nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

¹² Legt deshalb (als die Auserwählten Gottes, heilig und geliebt) innigste Barmherzigkeiten, Freundlichkeit, Demut, Sanftmut und Langmut an,

¹² Put on therefore (as the elect of God, holy and beloued) bowels of mercies, kindnesse, humblenesse of minde, meekenesse, long suffering,

¹³ Einander nachsichtig und einander vergebend, wenn irgend jemand ||Streit gegen irgendeinen habe: Wie auch Christus euch vergab, so tut auch ihr.[||oder: Beschwerde]

¹³ Forbearing one another, and forgiuing one another, if any man haue a || quarrell against any: euen as Christ forgaue you, so also doe yee.[||Or, complaint.]

¹⁴ Und über all diese Dinge lege Barmherzigkeit an, welche das Band der Vollkommenheit ist.

¹⁴ And aboue all these things put on charitie, which is the bond of perfectnesse.

¹⁵ Und lasst den Frieden Gottes in euren Herzen herrschen, zu welchem ihr auch berufen seid in einem Körper: Und seid dankbar.

¹⁵ And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also yee are called in one body: and be yee thankefull.

¹⁶ Lasst das Wort von Christus reichlich in euch wohnen in aller Weisheit, einander lehrend und ermahnend in Psalmen und Hymnen und geistlichen Liedern, singend mit Güte in euren Herzen zum Herrn.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdome, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalmes, and Hymnes, and Spirituall songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

¹⁷ Und was auch immer ihr in Wort oder Tat tut, das alles tut im Namen des Herrn Jesus, Gott und dem Vater Dank gebend, durch ihn.

¹⁷ And whatsoeuer yee doe in word or deed, doe all in the Name of the Lord Iesus, giuing thankes to God and the Father, by him.

¹⁸ Ehefrauen, unterwerft euch selbst euren Ehemännern, wie es sich im Herrn geziemt.

¹⁸ Wiues, submit your selues vnto your owne husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

¹⁹ Ihr Männer, liebt eure Ehefrauen und seid nicht ungehalten gegen sie.

¹⁹ Husbands, loue your wiues, and be not bitter against them.

²⁰ Kinder, gehorcht euren Eltern in allen Dingen, denn das gefällt dem Herrn sehr.

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing vnto the Lord.

²¹ Väter, reizt eure Kinder nicht zum Ärger, damit sie nicht entmutigt werden.

²¹ Fathers, prouoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

²² Diener, gehorcht in allen Dingen euren Herren gemäß dem Fleisch: Nicht mit Augendienerei wie Menschenlieblinge, sondern in Aufrichtigkeit des Herzens, Gott fürchtend:

²² Seruants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh: not with eye seruice as men pleasers, but in singlenesse of heart, fearing God:

²³ Und was auch immer ihr tut, tut es von Herzen, als für den Herrn und nicht für Menschen:

²³ And whatsoeuer yee doe, doe it heartily, as to the Lord, and not vnto men:

²⁴ Wissend, dass ihr vom Herrn den Lohn des Erbes erhalten werdet: Denn ihr dient dem Herrn Christus.

²⁴ Knowing, that of the Lord yee shall receiue the reward of the inheritance: for ye serue the Lord Christ.

²⁵ Aber derjenige, der Unrecht tut, wird für das Unrecht, das er tat, empfangen: Und da ist kein Ansehen der Personen.

²⁵ But he that doeth wrong, shall receiue for the wrong which hee hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
